Bookie Nookie Reviews posted an enthusiastic review of FALLEN, saying:

FALLEN is post-apocalyptic, paranormal novel that far exceeded my expectations. I read the summary and was interested, but this book totally knocked my socks off! I REALLY need to start COLD LIGHT immediately. I am so engrossed in these characters lives and in this world that I need to find out what happens next….

What great, juicy fun!!

T-shirts with Sculptures and iTunes Podcast.

SO, I have arrived: my podcasts have made it to iTunes.

Check them out here on iTunes. So far I’ve made two podcasts: one of me reading Chapter 1 of FALLEN and one of me reading Chapter 1 of THE LOVE OF MY (OTHER) LIFE. Look for more podcasts of book chapters and interviews! Also, I will be setting up a Parvati Press podcast with Parvati Press authors reading from their books or being interviewed.

And check out the new Parvati Press Emporium, where you can buy t-shirts that feature my book covers and my husband Sabin Howard‘s sculptures or drawings. You have options: you can choose a t-shirt with the image (book cover, sculpture, or drawing) on the front or back. The sculpture shirts say “RISE TO THE OCCASION Sabin Howard Sculpture.” The FALLEN t-shirt says “JOIN THE APOCALYPSE“; the COLD LIGHT t-shirt says “IN THE END, LOVE DEMANDS EVERYTHING” and the FAR SHORE t-shirt says “LOVE IS SALVATION.”

Check them out, and enjoy!

2 Podcasts and A Most Excellent Review of FALLEN

2 Podcasts and A Most Excellent Review of FALLEN

A tweet of special loveliness winged its way to me today:

@tracilslatton I apologize that it took me so long to review your novel, Fallen! Thank you for writing it. http://wp.me/p2qe77-1no

I checked the link to emsun.org and the 5 star review of FALLEN is quite wonderful:

I read it no less than four times in the past two years. Finally, feeling very guilty, I knew I was going to not only finally review the book, but also purchase my own copy. Last week, I did so.
Fallen explores the grittier side of what could happen in a post-apocalyptic setting. Lives are clearly divided into Before and After, and survivors battle with the guilt as they can’t reconcile the two.

Also, I have made two podcasts, one of me reading Chapter One of Fallen, and the other of me reading Chapter One of The Love of My (Other) Life. Right now they’re housed at archive.org; I have tried my luck at iTunes, we’ll see.

New Reviews and Giveaway of FALLEN

Reviews of Fallen.

So, over this lovely Thanksgiving weekend, with so much to be grateful for, come two wonderful new reviews.

Leslie Wright, paranormal author and passionate reader extraordinaire, wrote a warm and thoughtful review of THE LOVE OF MY (OTHER) LIFE.

Here’s a quick quote: This is a fun and romantic take on the power of soulmates. As Slatton creates her characters, she imbues them with warmth and recklessness. There is a boldness and vulnerability attached to Brian that draw you to his character.

The review is found here on her book review blog Tic Toc, and also here on Blogcritics. org for double the love. You can find Leslie on FB here and on twitter: @LeslieTicToc

The inimitable Kelly Woodward, who has a master’s in literature and was once a ballroom dance teacher, is hosting a giveaway of FALLEN and an interview of me to go along with her insightful review. Her blog is called You can read me anything.

I loved when she wrote: I started reading Fallen in the car on the way home (relax…my husband was driving, not me!), and I asked my husband to let the car idle in the driveway for a minute…I needed to finish the scene and find out what happened! The rest of the book holds up to the promise of the first pages. Slatton’s writing is smooth and efficient; she crafts scenes so easily that you can’t help but see them in your mind’s eye….

Check out Kelly’s review here and ENTER TO WIN A COPY OF FALLEN here.

Amazingly Awesome Amazon Review of FALLEN

Awesome Amazon Review of FALLEN.

This 5 star review is on the Amazon product page for FALLEN, which has just received a new cover to go with the publication of  FAR SHORE, the 3rd book in the After Series.

Look for Dii’s review, entitled “What would You do to Survive?”

Here’s her review:

“A mysterious mist is devastating the world, humans caught in the mist are reduced to water and sand in an excruciating death. The survivors were left with little but their wits and luck in the cruel game of survival. True leaders are born who are not all bright and shiny, they are damaged, flawed and human, doing whatever they need to do to survive and provide relative safety for those in their care. Emma has been caring for a group of children in the months since the mist arrived, so when another band of survivors on horseback rescue them from the mist, she will do whatever it takes to join this group and keep the children safe and fed as she attempts to make her way to safety and her husband, thousands of miles away. Arthur, the leader of the group of men who rescued them seems to have some type of control over the mist, a power he has gained since the apocalypse. Others have also gained “powers,’ Emma can heal people; some have psychic abilities to read people and their intentions. Ask yourself, what would you do in order to survive? What would you expect of others?

Fallen by Traci L. Slatton, the first book in the After Series isn’t filled with the promise of a happy ever after. It is brutally dark, gritty and has a frighteningly realistic view of what a world-wide disaster could be like. The heroine didn’t start out damaged, but her determination to survive and keep those around her alive has caused her to do things she never would have dreamed of. Did it make her larger than life and completely likable? No, but Traci L. Slatton created her to be strong in a world filled with darkness, evil and people running scared. Emma does have a sense of loyalty, at time it seems skewed, but as I fell further and further into the story, I began to understand why, in a word – survival.
Arthur has secrets he is keeping, but as brutal and cold as he may seem, inside he has his own code of honor and a shroud of guilt he hides behind and he is falling for Emma. Should she tell him of her husband, who may still be alive?

Is the mist a product of nature? Science? Is it God’s wrath coming down on a power-hungry world? There are people who know the answers, people who seek retribution, who will pay the price?
Traci L. Slatton has stamped Fallen with her own style of writing, bold, thoughtful and driven by the characters as much as the plot. It is a story of survival in a world that seems doomed to succumb to the dark side. I was riveted to each dark page as my imagination went into overdrive ferreting out what I would do. This is not a traditional romance, so do NOT expect hearts and flowers, but do expect a story that will stay with you in that realm of “what if” long after the last page.”

AWESOME!!!!
