Here are some review comments about this bittersweet sci fi rom com:

Traci L. Slatton’s The Love of My (Other) Life explores the psyche of a woman who has suffered romantic wounds and is searching for a soul mate. Action-packed and fast-paced, this sci-fi thriller has another side to it, a metaphysical side, and it’s colored by images of the contemporary art world.SouthernLitReview

The story is about the incredible power of love to move, not just mountains, but actual universes, and that it is absolutely never too late for a second chance. Not even if you have to employ quantum mechanics to kick your own self in the teeth….Make yourself a gift of this lovely and sweetly goofy second-chance romance.ReadingReality.net

This was a very interesting story that went back and forth from one universe to another. We learn Brian’s story, then we go back to this universe and Tessa’s story.  There are secrets, romance, art, forgery, and interesting characters.Paranormal Romance Guild

The possibility of a parallel universe is an interesting phenomenon. If such a reality existed, could you cross over and if so would you take such a chance?…As you follow these characters you are drawn to the possibility of their connection. It creates a warmth and yearning as you find yourself encouraging Tessa to choose love over logic. If you enjoy romance and science fiction you will find this a surprisingly lighthearted dose of both. I was charmed by the story although the surprise ending rattled me in a strange way…. This would be a great book for the romance reader, take it along on a trip. An easy read, you may find yourself chuckling over the antics as they unfold. The comedy and romance keep you entertained, with just that small bit of satisfaction.

This book was definitely a fun read.
And it really does make you ask the question: What would you do for the love of your life?Or rather as the description says: What worlds would you move to be with your soulmate?
I was also totally convinced that I knew how the book was going to end. I was wrong. So, the book isn’t a predictable one either!
A fun, quirky read that I’d recommend.BooktoBookReviews

5-Star Amazon Reviews
“Finally – a sexy, fun vampire book that’s intellectually engaging and not geared toward 13 year old girls. I’ve read a lot of the popular vampire fiction out today, and I have to say that this is the best novel in that genre that I have come across in a long, long time… This is a must read if you love art history, vampires, or just a solid page-turner.”
“The Botticelli Affair is a superb romantic urban fantasy thriller that vividly takes readers on a tour of the Metropolitan, and museums and galleries in Europe…”
“Anybody who is looking for a fun read that includes vampires and interesting art history should read The Botticelli Affair. Another plus: it’s a satisfying romantic thriller…”

Reading Other People’s Blogs

I have a lovely friend Lori who keeps a blog. I subscribe to her blog via bloglovin, so her enchanting essays regularly land in my inbox. Her posts are richly textured and full of color, they’re sad and despairing and happy and reflective and sweet and charming and inspiring and courageous and heartfelt. I stop work to read them when they come in. I get a little buzz of expansive feeling-thought, rather like eating a sugary square of lush dark chocolate with hazelnuts when I know I shouldn’t.

Lori’s blogs keep me connected to her and her life and they bubble up emotions within me. People use Facebook for that, too, I guess, though I’m not a fan of that particular forum. I forget to go on Facebook for weeks at a time, and then when I do, I try to “like” everything and everyone on my timeline. That ought to tame the beast, right?

I read the blogs of strangers, too, when I come upon them after googling something. I’m looking for information and sometimes I get that. Other times it’s a voyeuristic peek into an unknown life, as if I were riding in a hot air balloon and was floating past, staring down at the scenery. Sometimes it’s both. During the writing of my novel COLD LIGHT, I needed details about a certain Canadian park, and I stumbled upon a family’s blog about their vacation to that park, complete with an extensive photo album. I will never meet that family, but I am grateful to them for recording their trip with such meticulous care. I like to get the details right when I’m building a world inside a story, and I need to get as exhaustively detailed a mental picture as possible to that end. Their chronicles helped me.

I suspect that a lot of authors keep blogs for the same reasons I do: one, to promote their books; two, to keep fresh content trickling into the vast, libidinous ocean of the Internet, where content is king; and three, to rant about life and thus exorcise demons. The urge to autobiography is hard to extinguish.

So, promotional things, like eBook sales: COLD LIGHT will be on sale for $1.99 from Feb 18 to Feb 27; THE BOTTICELLI AFFAIR will be on sale for $.99 from Feb 10-18.

And check out this gorgeous oil painting: LIBERACI DAL MALE, by the outrageously talented Italian painter Roberto Ferri. Ferri’s work is insanely beautiful; he knows his way around a figure like no other painter alive right now. Sabin and I are both fans, and Sabin, who is perfectly fluent in Italian, has Skyped with Roberto. Roberto has graciously given permission for me to use LIBERACI DAL MALE as the cover for my novel BROKEN, the WW2 story on which I am currently working. The novel is wrestling me to the ground every day–if I see one more image of a Nazi atrocity, I will not be able to contain the tears–but this image helps. Other people’s work, in image and word, strengthens my own.

Announcing a new eBook: HOW TO WRITE, PUBLISH, AND MARKET YOUR BOOK YOURSELF INDEPENDENTLY

I am happy to announce a new eBook:

How to Write, Publish, and Market Your Book Yourself, Independently: A manual for the courageous and persistent.

This book came out of my experiences as an author and indie publisher, down in the trenches of book-writing, book-making, and book-promoting with my shirtsleeves rolled up.

It’s meant to be a resource for all those brave souls who do-it-themselves. It’s full of tips and tricks, advice on how to overcome pitfalls, and counsel about what really truly works and what really doesn’t, in my experience. It’s not a last word but a springboard. It’s $29.99 with these links or on my websites; it will cost $34.99 on Amazon and the iBookstore. Look for a similarly priced print book in a week or so.

Tome Tender: Release Day Celebration! FAR SHORE by Traci Slatt…:

FAR SHORE By Traci L. Slatton The After Series – Book Three Publication Date:  October 10, 2013 Publisher:  Pavarti Press

Dii’s 5 Star Review:
The world has collapsed and the nightmare is never ending for Emma as she makes an impossible decision, and must live with its consequences. Arthur is found, but what is left is hardly identifiable as human, whether he will live or not is in question, but Emma’s sense of responsibility, loyalty and love leave her no choice but to try to save what is left of him. Is it the right choice? Has she given up too much? Does she place too much stock in her own invincibility, her own self-importance? Does she have the right to gamble with the lives of others, to use who she needs to in order to survive? Are her powers evolving again or are they fading away? What of Arthur? Her family she left behind?

Far Shore by Traci L. Slatton, the third book of the After Trilogy raises just as many uncomfortable questions as in previous books as we come to the end of this series, but the beginning of a new world for those who survive the unrelenting mist. Ms. Slatton is making a bold statement by not painting her heroes or heroines as anything more than what they are, flawed, traumatized and yet brave enough to take a stand and live with the consequences. Emma is practical, very strong and willing to take more than her share of risks. Arthur is not the strong, mysterious character we knew and the change is shocking. Alexei, with his own demons avenged and soothed, impossibly has done an about face, as he witnesses Arthur’s condition, but can he be trusted?

Do NOT expect to be comfortable with all of the decisions made or the actions taken, this world is still bleak, filled with deceit and treachery, but there is still hope, there is still love. In the end, it may have been one uncomfortable decision that ultimately may save the world and someone had to be strong enough to make it.  If you’re looking for something to scrape a little on the smooth edges of your comfort zone, this series will do it, but be prepared to be haunted by “what ifs.”
